Tosca is one of the most popular and widely performed in operatic history. Since its premiere, audiences around the world have been captivated by its story of love, lust, revenge and sacrifice, woven with torture, murder and suicide into a tragic love story with some of Puccini’s best-known lyrical arias such as “vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore” (I lived for art, I lived for love) and “E lucevan le stele” (And the stars shone).
