SINGING COACHES AND PIANISTS
Opera Hong Kong Children Chorus has a professional team of singing coaches and pianists, specializing in voice or piano performance in established overseas music institutions or The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. They have prominent presence and solid experience in both performance and arts education in local cultural scene.

CHAN PUI SHAN, ANNA
Anna Chan is a Hong Kong-born mezzo-soprano, received training at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in U.K. She is currently studying with Professor Nancy Yuen at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with full scholarship from Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Chan sang the title role of Mrs. Herring in Britten’s Albert Herring at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and gained the fine review from Glyn Pursglove. Other operatic engagements include Idamante in Idomeneo, Mercédès in Carmen, Inez in The Gondoliers and covering Vera Boronel in The Consul. She was the invited artist of the Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale 2015 to present a solo recital at the Church of St Peter in Chains in Malta.

KWOK CHUN LAP, ALEX
Baritone, Alex Kwok received his Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), majoring in voice, under the tutelage of Albert Lim. He was granted The Hong Kong Children’s Choir Music Scholarship and the Sing Music Studio Scholarship. Kwok won the Espoir Prize in Lieder Group at the Osaka International Music Competition in 2018. Recent opera performances include Semele, Gianni Schicchi, Otello and Aïda, Les contes d’Hoffmann and The Magic Flute. Kwok has performed in vocal masterclasses by Soprano Nelly Miricioiu, Joy Mammen, Bass-Baritone Shenyang, and Countertenor Michael Chance. He has also performed in a number of Broadway Musicals such as Fame, High School Musical 2, Rent and Avenue Q, and was the singing coach for Rent – The Musical, presented by Drama School of HKAPA.

MOK TSZ WAI, ATHENE
Hong Kong soprano, Athene Mok has performed in Taipei, the U.S., Hong Kong, Toronto and Tel Aviv. She made her professional debut in Taipei in 2019 as the Ghost, the main character of the contemporary chamber opera Ghost Love by Dr. Chan Hing-yan and she will be premiering a new chamber opera in Cantonese, Kungfood by Dr. Chan in January 2022. Her other operatic appearances include Poppea and Valletto inL’incoronazione di Poppea, La Fée in Cendrillon, Morgana in Alcina, Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Despina in Cosi fan tutte. Mok received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

CHUNG KA YING, KATHERINE
Born in Hong Kong, Katherine Chung received classical music education in Hong Kong and the UK, obtaining Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance in Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Chung attained Distinction in both LTCL and ATCL Piano Recital Diploma, Grade 8 Theory and Grade 8 Violin (Merit). She is a member of Composers & Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH). Chung has been a piano accompanist for choirs such as Chinese Chorus in London and University of the Arts London. With extensive live performing experience, she enjoys working with different singers to deliver performances in hotels, plazas and bars. She has also been engaged in composing and scoring for advertisement music, and teaching students aged from 4 to mature students. She aspires to make the music alive in the air every moment.

HUI CHUNG MAU, KARL
Karl Hui holds his Master degree of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (Bloomington, USA), where he studied with Edmund Battersby, Evelyne Brancart, Jean Louis Haguenauer and Yonit Kosovske (harpsichord). He received his Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and piano training under Wong Mei Ling. Currently Hui devotes himself to piano teaching. He is also active in performing and accompanying with various organizations and choirs.

MA KWAN TING, KATIE
Katie Ma received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Bristol where she studied with Professor Raymond Clark and Christopher Northam. Known for her exquisite interpretations of the late Romantic & 20th Century repertoire, she was invited to give solo recitals across the UK. Ma completed internships with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Hong Kong and later earned her Master’s Degree in Management at University of Sheffield. Ma began her career as professional piano accompanist and music educator. In 2013-15 she has performed as guest concert pianist in Learner’s Orchestra. She joined Opera Hong Kong Children Chorus in 2014 and has actively participated in numerous concerts and operas including Turandot and Carmen. She was a theatre production manager, children’s choir senior supervisor and freelance pianist.
